I’ve said it times and times again:
“We’re all great!”
Yes, we all are!
And yes, even you reading this! YOU ARE GREAT!
The question is not really “are we great?” but rather “how does one realize that they are great?”
I know how hard it is to realize that you’re great.
Trust me! Even as I’m writing this article and as much as I want to scream “I’m great!” as loud as I can, a voice still whispers “am I though?”
If you are anything like me, maybe this whispering voice developed itself because of people around you doubting yourself, underestimating you and not believing in you so it was only natural that you also started to doubt yourself, underestimate yourself and not believe in yourself.
It just makes sense!
But then, how does one goes from doubting themselves to not only thinking that they’re great but actually being great?
Cody Saintgnue perfectly explained greatness to Jonathan George:
“Greatness is the Exploration of One’s Self”
He continues on to say:
“We’re all great! I think it’s just about finding what you’re confidently great at. The x factor to me or (somebody’s) greatness is just someone who just understands themselves and loves themselves so much and isn’t afraid to look at what they’re great at and own that.”
Greatness is understanding yourself and loving yourself.
Can we give Cody a standing ovation for that?
It is the truest thing that I’ve ever heard and I wish that more people realized that!
I think that the reason why it’s so hard for people to realize that is because nobody really feels like they’re special.
And often times, “being great” is mistaken for “being special”.
Listen, I’m not special. I’m really not!
And by that I mean that I don’t feel like I am anything like “the chosen one” or anything like that.
I don’t think that I’ve been chosen to be more special than everybody else.
I don’t think that I’m that kind of great.
What I believe though is that maybe we were all put on this earth to accomplish some type of greatness.
We were all given a certain greatness and all we have to do is learn to see it and learn to use it for the bettering of the world.
My greatness is not the same as yours but that doesn’t mean that you are not great or that I am greater than you.
We are all equally great and we are all meant to achieve greatness one way or another!
And as Cody said it, all we have to do to be able to achieve greatness is understand ourselves and love ourselves unconditionally.
It will be hard and there will definitely be times where you feel like sh*t — trust me we’ve all felt like that! And it stinks! Pun very much intended! — But as long as you keep on getting to know yourself and as long as you’re willing to push yourself in order to be the great person that you truly are, life will always be good!
I’m not saying that life won’t be hard, but life will be good in the sense that no matter what happens in life, if you know yourself and love yourself, you’ll always be able to push through anything.
And you’ll be able to do great things!
And that is the real meaning of “greatness”.
It’s not someone who’s greater than everybody else, it’s someone who knows themselves to be a person of true greatness.
