Don’t Let What Other People Think Of You Pull You Away From Your Authentic Self

Since birth, we’ve been taught to hide certain parts of who we are.

We’ve been taught to be “good girls” and “good boys” because perception is everything to us.

But this is wrong on so many levels.

The truth is that, perception shouldn’t even matter.

Who you appear to be shouldn’t be more important than who you truly are.

But more importantly, we shouldn’t become a version of ourselves that was based and fashioned by other people’s opinions.

You see, when we let people’s opinions influence what we do and who we become, we give them the power to create who we are.

But the real question is, what do other people really know about who we truly are?

They didn’t make us.

Unless, they are our parents…

Then in that case they did in fact make us.

But what I mean is that, they didn’t decide to put everything that is in us.

They didn’t put our abilities inside of us.

They didn’t put our dreams inside of us.

They didn’t put our personality inside of us.

All of those things were already inside of us before we were even born.

And the only person who could have put that inside of us is none other than God.

And that is for that reason and that reason only that you should let go of what people think of you.

We should stop trying to maintain this image that people have of us.

Because who they think we are doesn’t matter in comparison to who God created us to be.

We need to protect our true self and cultivate it in order to become who God created us to be.

And that means, letting go of what other people think of us.

That means, not letting other people dictate who we should be and what we should do.

That means, not letting other people have power over you.

That means, unapologetically being yourself.

And finally, that means, drawing closer to God and listening to Him.

Your authentic self is already great.

Your authentic self is already enough.

All you have to do is to be bold enough to reach out for it in order to let it shine.

It’s not going to be easy but would you rather be your authentic self or let other people fabricate who you become?
