Society Pulls You Away From Your Authentic Self

Since the day we were born, we were taught to be a “good boy” or a “good girl” in the eyes of society.

We’ve been taught to do this, do that, look like this, look like that, don’t do this and don’t do that.

We’ve been taught that if we don’t behave accordingly, society won’t accept us.

Therefore it has become our ultimate goal to get society’s approval.

And in order to get it, we have to fit in.

We’ve been taught to follow some rules than nobody really agreed to follow but still we follow them.

And we’ve been taught that if somebody doesn’t do the same as everyone then they’re rebels or they’re weird.

“If only we could notice that we never allow ourselves to be exactly as we are. Instead, there is a constant pressure of how we “should” be” — Avikal e. constantino

Society has rules that we have never agreed to follow.

“Look like this.” ; “Work there.” ; “Love this person.” ; “Act that way.” ; “Talk that way.” ; “Do this!”

And if we don’t follow those rules, we are considered fools who are going to be lost in life.

But I’d rather be lost knowing who I am rather than being lost trying to be who society wants me to be.

The truth of the matter is that society will never accept you.

There. I said it.

Society is strict.

Society doesn’t accept difference.

Society doesn’t accept originality.

Society doesn’t accept uniqueness.

Society doesn’t even see us as individual human beings.

Society sees us as a whole.

And a whole is easier to control if everything looks the same and works the same.

In the end, society doesn’t want you to be yourself.

Society just wants the society machine to keep on spinning.

And in order to do that, it’ll strip you away from everything that makes you you by telling you that it is what you have to do.

But listen, you do not HAVE to do anything.

Except being yourself.

You were created for a reason.

And that reason is not so that you can let society strip you away from your true authentic self.

You were created to be yourself because God put a lot of thoughts when He created you.

He knew exactly what He was doing when He created you.

And He didn’t do all of that so you could fit in a man-made society.

Instead of teaching our children to judge whoever doesn’t fit in the society mold, we should teach our children to just accept that everyone was made differently and for a different purpose.

Not everyone will look the same.

Not everyone will act the same.

Not everyone will take the same path.

Because we were never created to be exactly the same!

The sooner we realize that, the sooner we will accept our true authentic self instead of becoming a product of society.

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” — Albert Camus
