You Are Free To Dream (ft. Tehana Ranatunga)

When talking to Tehana Ranatunga, owner of the magazine Dreamality, it was clear to us that freedom was a big part of her journey towards authenticity.

• The path where dreams go to die

Tehana admitted that after highschool she stopped dreaming and tried to conform to the life that everybody else was living.

Go to uni, find a job, have your own family, pay the bills and retire, that is what we’ve all been told to do.

Follow those steps and you’ll be all right. Or so we’ve been told…

• Dare to dream again

Towards the end of 2013, Tehana felt a pull.

She felt like she needed to find a church.

That’s when she found Planetshakers.

Being surrounded by people that were free inspired her to dream again.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)

Tehana strongly believes that God set us free so that we could freely dream and live the life that was given to us.

Hence why she created her magazine Dreamality.

She realized that once we grow up, most of us lose our ability to dream, so we conform to what people want us to be instead of living the life that was meant for us.

With Dreamality, Tehana hopes to ignite people’s dreams back to life.

She wants to encourage people to dream again and to actually take actions towards making those dreams come true.

• Dreams are reality in the making

Have you ever been told to be “realistic” before?
Have you ever been told to stop dreaming?

Most of us have.

And that stings.

But here’s a question for you:

Who is more realistic, a dreamer who knows who they are and who pursues their dreams or someone forced to conform into something that they are not just to do what everybody is doing?

If you ask us, the ladder sounds like the unrealistic one…

How can you be realistic if you cannot even be real with yourself?

If you want to be realistic, you should admit that you have dreams and that you want to make them come true.

Nothing and no one said that your dreams cannot come true.

The only thing that prevents those dreams to come true is none other than yourself.

If you were realistic, you would know that you are more capable to make things, such as dreams, come true.

After all, God did set us free so that we could dream and make those dreams come true.

He didn’t set us free so that we could conform and repress our dreams and ultimately repress the greatness that He put inside of us.

So it’s time that we all be a little bit more realistic, for real this time!

It’s time that we stop lying to ourselves.

It’s time that we stop limiting ourselves.

It’s time that we live our dreams!

• It’s time that we actually live life.

Stop following the step-by-step life that we’ve all been told to follow and start living the life that God gave you.
