Art and poetry by Roshan James

Drips of coded meaning
Hang threaded
Loose to pull
Of circumstance
And invention

It is the intimacy
Of new voices resonating
From the silver screen
Of our mind’s eye
Conjuring
What already lies within

Encoded with possibilities
Living put to words and song
We learn that struggle
Can become a journey
And there is more
To the wanderer’s drift
Than a listless privilege;
It is our everyday hero-type
Searching
For truth and the understanding of wisdom,
For the purpose in love,
Who teaches us
Our own story
In which we become

Roshan James (she/her) is a mom, wife, poet, and marketing professional, living in a small, rural town north-west of Waterloo, Ontario. Roshan finds inspiration in science, philosophy, art, music, prayer and meditation, the natural world, and the simplest of interactions from everyday life.

She looks for ways to connect all of this with themes of love, hope, time, purpose and existence — transposing the minutiae into messages of mindfulness and healing. Roshan studied at Queen’s University as well as the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto, and she holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from York University, summa cum laude.

You can find her at RoshanJames.com.
