Share content between networks, across organizations

Sharing files is critical for productivity — it’s no different in video teams. Many of latakoo’s clients are large news organizations that need to share video files across stations or affiliates, but they want to control how that content is shared. Moving files between latakoo networks makes that possible.

Because sharing is easy and flexible, custom workflows can be built and automated with latakoo.

What’s a latakoo network?

In latakoo, a network is a content feed available to a group of users. These networks can be set up for entire stations or regional station groups, for specific projects, advertising teams, or digital teams.

The groups of users assigned to those networks have tiered access to the content, depending on their role. While freelancers may only be able to upload and view their own content, participants can move, copy and delete their own content, and sharers would have the ability to move and copy any content associated with that network.

For instance, if a station in Austin, Texas has a breaking news event, the crew would first upload video to their station’s network, but a media manager might copy that content to a network shared by affiliate regional stations. Production companies might copy video files into networks to grant access to files for graphics teams or even client reviews. Digital teams can create specific networks for transcription, automating the process of ordering and delivering captions for online videos or transcribing raw interviews.

latakoo’s system of networks allows you to efficiently share among groups of users, stations and teams.

Copying Files on latakoo Pilot

Copying and moving files between networks happens on latakoo Pilot, at latakoo.com. Copying files retains your original file in the network where it was uploaded.

First, locate the file or files you want to copy. Check “Your Uploads” to see a full list of all of your uploaded files or search by network.

Note: Depending on your role within your organization, you may be able to copy, move or delete only your files. These actions are set by permissions.

Checkbox Method

Select the checkbox on the far right of the video entry you want to move.

Once that checkmark is enabled, you will see a drop down menu with options to delete the file, move the file or copy the file.

Copying the file retains the file in the original network.

Once you select “Copy to” another drop down menu appears with a list of networks that you can access. Make a selection and click “Go.”

Moving and deleting files follows the same process. You can select multiple files to copy simultaneously.

Drag and Drop Method

To quickly move (but not copy) a file from one network to another, click and hold on the video you want to move and drag it into another network from the list on the left side of the screen. The network folder will turn from gray to white when it is selected. Release your mouse to move the file to the new network.

Copying Files on latakoo Flight Mobile

When you go to the Pilot menu in the latakoo Flight app for Mobile, you will see the content feed of all uploaded files.

Click in to a single video to see more information on this file.

  1. Click on the three dot icon to open a menu that allows you to copy, move, delete, download, share, copy, move or delete a file.

You can always perform these functions with a file you uploaded, but permissions will govern whether you can copy/move/share others’ files.

The menu appears slightly different between the Android and iOS apps.
