There are a couple of ways to download files from Pilot. One involves your Internet browser, one uses the latakoo Flight application.

Internet Browser Download

You can always download the default file with your Internet browser. This is available for files marked with (Web) beside their file type.

If the file is compressed upon upload, the default download will be an .mp4. If the file was transferred with an uncompressed setting it will appear in the format type, which may be .mov, .mfx, .mpg, or other.

In the example on the right, the default file is an .mp4 file. You would select the (Web) format to bring the file down through your browser.

This action will function just like any other file downloaded with an Internet browser, where it is saved, depends on your browser settings.

Setting Your Browser Download Location

A quick Google search can tell you how to set a location for downloads for the browser you use most. It’s easy to change your download location on any of the browsers. Here’s a guide for Chrome:

  • On your computer, open Chrome.
  • At the top right, click More Settings.
  • At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
  • Under the “Downloads” section, adjust your download settings: To change the default download location, click Change and select where you’d like your files to be saved.

Downloads with the latakoo Flight Application

Starting with the 6.4 Flight application and above, you have the option to download any file with the latakoo Flight application.

This will allow you to download the default file directly into the Flight app, which is helpful for large files or low bandwidth environments where the browser download might time out.

You can also re-encode a file, or transcode a file with the Flight application, choosing from the list of available formats.

Under the download function on Pilot, select the format you want. When you’re prompted to open the file, select “open with latakoo Flight Video Tool.

You will need to click “start” on the app before the file is downloaded, encoded and saved to your computer.

Setting Download Options in the Flight app

Within the latakoo Flight app, you can set a default folder for downloads. Click Options at the bottom of the app, and under the “General” tab, look for the default downloads folder. You can browse to the folder you want to set as a download location. Make sure you click OK for your settings to save.

Happy downloading!
