Firewall proxies get a shortcut setting in our desktop Flight app
In some organizations, you may have a firewall enabled in your environment, blocking unauthorized Internet access. This would be set by your internal IT department.
However, you can set up your desktop Flight application to navigate the firewall, allowing the Flight app to reach the Internet to send and retrieve files.
When you open the desktop Flight app, you’ll see an options button at the bottom left. Click “Options” to open the settings menu.
When the options menu appears, click on the Advanced tab at the top. Add a check mark beside “Enable Proxy Settings, then enter the host and port codes give to you by your IT department.
Turning on the Proxy
Once you’ve set the Proxy in settings, your Flight application can reach the Internet through your firewall, if it’s turned on.
To turn on your proxy settings, go to the Flight app window and locate a toggle switch at the top of the app labeled Proxy.
If the switch says “Disabled” the proxy is off. If the switch says “Enabled” the proxy is on. Green and red text give you a visual cue as well.
For field crews, they use this toggle switch to access the Internet by enabling the proxy when they are inside the broadcast center (and firewall) and disabling it when they are outside the broadcast center (and firewall).
If you’re having trouble reaching the Internet when connected to a corporate network, proxy settings can be the issue.
