Whether it’s tags, folders, labels, or something else, most bookmarking apps give you some way to organize your saved links so that you can easily search or filter them later.

The trouble is, most people don’t utilize these features when saving a link to their collection and finding content days or months later becomes a real pain. Staying organized requires deliberate upfront effort and we wanted to free users from this hassle while allowing their content to stay nicely organized.

This is where Smart Tags comes in! Powered by Natural Language Processing, Smart Tagging analyzes the text of any web page you want to save and recommends an appropriate tag. Check out the video below for a demo:

Just enable enable Smart Tagging from the settings tab on Keep and let AI do the rest.

Smart Tags work pretty well for most types of content, but it’s not fool proof. Generally, our testing shows pretty accurate and useful tagging behaviour for all sorts of media and content; however, as you can see in the video below, mistakes happen. Depending on the types of articles and links you save with Keep, you might find Smart Tags incredibly useful or incredibly annoying. Give it a try and let us know!

We’re still optimizing Smart Tag performance and it should be ready for Keep v2.3.0 set to be released in February 2019. Stay tuned and check it out.
