Welcome to update #4 for our Game. The team continued to make good progress over the past quarter. Please read on for more details.

Game Concept:

In this update, we would like to share more information about the game concept and some details on the battle mechanics. As mentioned in our previous update, the game will be an auto-battler card-based game. We will go into details of each card type.

Guardian cards:

  • A player must select a Guardian card at the beginning of the game. A player will be presented with 4 guardian cards to select from a pool of 35+ Guardian cards. Each Guardian will have its own Ability and Health.
  • Ability — the Guardian’s Ability may have synergy with specific Character, Treasure, or Spell, so players will want to build their boards around their Guardian’s Ability to maximize their potential. For example, Gelberos’s Ability is “Your Villain characters have +1 Attack. They have an additional +1 Attack for each of your Animals that died this fight.”; with this Guardian, players might want to choose character that have “Villain” Alignment or “Animal” Type instead of others for the synergy.
  • Health — health will be reduced every time a player loses a fight. If the Guardian’s Health decreased to zero, the player loses the game.

Character cards:

  • Players can buy character cards during the “Buy Phase” which will then be used to compete against other players during the “Battle Phase.”
  • Each character card will have its own Stats, Ability, Alignment, and Type.
  • Stats — each card has its own Attack and Health which will be used to calculate the winner during the “Fight Phase.” The card also has its own “Cost” which is the price a player must pay for each card.
  • Ability — Similar to Guardian’s Ability, each card has different Abilities. Thus, the key is not just choosing the card with the best Stats, but to create the team with the best synergy to win others’ boards.
  • Alignment — since the game’s theme is “Hero vs. Villain”, there will be three alignments including Hero, Villain, and Neutral.
  • Type — depending on the card, each card may have up to two types. Some of the types include Beast, Mage, Mutant, Mech, etc. Abilities of guardian and character cards might only have impacts on certain types.

Users can combine the Character cards together to upgrade Stats and Abilities of the card. By upgrading the Character cards, players will be able to utilize the space on the board more efficiently. Players will have to strategize the best composition to make the best synergy for their boards. As a result, with various strategies available, the game will have maximum replay-ability.

Spell cards:

  • Consumable card that can be acquired during the “Buy Phase.” The Ability might be instantaneous or take effect during the “Battle Phase.”

Treasure cards:

  • Treasure cards are rewarded when users upgrade their Character cards. They provide bonus effects as well as various benefits to the players. The higher the level of the monster cards that were upgraded, the better the effects.
  • Users can have a maximum of 3 treasure cards at any given time, so they must choose wisely which ones to use together for maximum synergy.

Development Progress:

The alpha version of the game is completed and are currently undergoing play-testing and bugs fixing. Our dev team also continue to make refinement to the core gameplay.

Timeline:

As with any development effort, there could be unexpected delays. However, we expect a version to be released for closed-beta testing / early playing in Q1 2023. We will keep the community updated on the progress.
