AJ Picard — founder of Chad

Over the past year and a half as a founder, I have learned many new skills. The skill I’m happy I learned the most, is designing. I’ve always been passionate about design, but never took it seriously. As I was developing my startup (learn more about it here), I wanted to make sure I would be more hands-on with the development of the product. I don’t know how to code, but I knew I could contribute through designing.

This pushed me every day to learn by watching Youtube videos on how to become a better designer.

In my opinion, in order to become a GREAT designer, you will need to find the right tools that will allow you to be a GREAT designer. If you become a master with a specific tool, but that tool has limitations… then you never really hit your full potential as a designer.

As you will tell from this article, I didn’t research anything… I’ve tested many platforms.

Designing

Here are the positives and negatives of each design platform, from my point of view.

Photoshop — $120/yr

I know I’m probably going to get some backlash on this one, but I can’t stand Photoshop or anything Adobe has to offer.

Positives

  • The sky’s the limit if you learn the tool inside & out.
  • Works well with After…
