MANILA, PHILIPPINES — It is with great pleasure that we announce our partnership with Future City Summit 2018, an international curation & annual convention and exhibition of top notch talents and young leaders who pledge to enter the smart grid of future, to build smarter and better cities.

The gathering includes leading undergraduates in The University of Hong Kong and other top universities in South and Southeast Asia such as De La Salle University and Tokyo University, with the initial support of Global Partnership Seed Fund from The University of Hong Kong. Future City Summit envisions a stream of collaboration and vibrant exchange of talents and ideas with actions through the summit annually.

This year the summit will be split into two different portions, with the first three days being spent at Hong Kong and the final two days leading to the culminating event at Guangzhou, China.

“It’s no less than fascinating to me to be able to come up with a unique solution to the problems we face everyday. I believe that through collaboration, we are able to innovate faster, more efficiently and more wholeheartedly as a nation.”

Last year, an Architecture student named Chai Cabañez from the De La Salle College of St. Benilde won the top prize for the hackathon portion of the conference with his teammates from Hong Kong, Kazakhstan and China for their entry “Aqualoop”, a regional ferry network to provide a low cost and efficient public transport mode in Manila to alleviate the traffic congestion and create new business districts. He describes it as a rich, unforgettable experience.

Chai won the award for “Best Presenter” and attended the UN Conference last September 2017.

Through this partnership with Future City Summit, Launchgarage continues to promote and support grass roots innovation by encouraging more students from the Philippines to participate, share their ideas and gain unique insights from different perspectives in a diverse pool of delegates hailing from 12 different countries around the world. Together with the organizers of the summit, we are proud to announce that we will be providing our support services to the winners of the summit.

Registrations will open in less than a month. Subscribe to their mailing list on the official website at: http://www.futurecitysummit.org
