Launchgarage Mentor Highlight: Jim Yuan

Jim is a Co-Founder and Partner at Joyview Education, an education consultancy and online education company that offers international students, in particular, those from mainland China, counseling and educational support towards admissions to the top US high schools and colleges. There, Jim leads operations, strategic advisory, business development, education content development, counselor interface, and student counseling. Jim is also a Regional Partner of FasterCapital, a virtual incubator and accelerator based in Dubai Internet City, that helps startups with investment, mentorship, networking, technical support, and co-founding.

Before founding Joyview Education, Jim was VP of Operations of agribusiness startup Sustansiya. During his time there, he piloted, tested, and managed the initial phase of poultry waste management and agribusiness startup operations. He advised on key strategic expansion, business development, and operations issues for emerging market startup business. Earlier to Sustansiya, Jim was Senior Manager of Schneider Electric in North America, Central America, and South America. He provided strategy and marketing analysis for Schneider Electric’s Transportation business division, working with South America, North America, and Spain regions on topics including tolling strategy, sales product alignment, and connected vehicles.

Jim holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, and joint BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University in the United States. Jim is also an active member of the digital nomad entrepreneur communities in Asia-Pacific and is conversant in Mandarin Chinese, English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
