This Ramadan we will miss community iftars, annual events, and our usual routine. But with so much happening in the world, we’ve got you covered with 17 activities you can use for the whole month.

1. Virtual Iftar

Have a Virtual Iftar or Suhoor 🍛 🥗 — Show off your culinary arts to your friends and family without letting them know how it actually tastes.

2. Islamic Lectures on Zoom

Join a live Islamic lecture or Zoom class to receive a spirituality boost during the day. Make sure to mute yourself, just in case 🤫 It’s a noisy time online but you don’t want to be caught interrupting. Make sure you use the ‘Mute’ button on the bottom left.

3. Read more of the Quran

Read the Quran every day 📖 — even if it’s just one line. If you set a goal to read one line and complete it, the next day continue with two or three and before you know it you will be reading more Surah’s and developing.

5. Read the translation of the Quran

Read a translation of the Quran if Arabic is not your first language. Without knowing what the Surah means it can be harder to factor them into our everyday lives.

6. Share Smile Emojis

Send smile emojis 😄 to your friends on Whatsapp 💬 No really, if you can’t see them face-to-face use this time to spread positive messages. We can still follow the Sunnah.

“And your smiling in the face of your brother is charity, — Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

7. Take a nap

Take a nap 😴 in the middle of the day so you can recharge and focus more. It’s even more tempting to keep working and doing as much as you can but it won’t leave you productive. Instead, schedule in 5 minutes when you feel like you need to recharge every day.

8. Don’t forget your Mosque 🕌 this Ramadan!

There will be many of us affected by our daily prayers by not being able to visit our Mosques. But you can start to fundraise to continue with our place of worship. Donate to their pages online or start a fundraiser for them on LaunchGood

9. Eat less during iftar ✅

It can be tempting to eat after fasting long hours, but in order to prevent bloating and keeping yourself more focused on your prayers, try planning your meals. We know the first few days can feel overwhelming with fried foods, but start planning a few treats and a balanced meal. You can take more time at home preparing what you want to eat.

10. Schedule your prayer time on your calendar

Without our prayers, Ramadan isn’t going to feel as meaningful. So as the days go by and you feel like you’re going miss another prayer set an alarm ⏰ to make sure you get your prayers in before the time is up.

11. Take just 5 minutes out of your day asking Allah for anything

Take just 5 minutes out of your day to ask Allah for anything your heart desires,🤲 in your own language with your heart at peace. This could be a new goal you want to achieve, a new hobby or a new direction in life. This is the month where you can increase your connection with Allah.

12. Phone a friend, sibling or loved one

Take just 5 minutes off of your day to ask a sibling, loved one, or your parents how they are doing. Regular communication will make you feel connected and feel more like Ramadan.

13. Uninterrupted screen-free time

Spend some uninterrupted, screen-free time with family at home 📵. It’s even more important now when we are all spending time online. Take out old boardgames that remind you to be nostalgic, create new memories and provide you with laughter.

14. Create your own space

If you are spending all day with your family — some time apart might also be a good idea ✅. When you are constantly together it can feel overwhelming and like you haven’t had time to work on yourself and spirituality.

15. Meal prep your suhoors and iftars

Like many of us, we have our traditional Ramadan treats and dishes, try to avoid biryani for all 30 days, come on you know what we mean. Instead, focus on healthier options if you can but also make time for the food you enjoy.

16. Share your blessings and maximize your rewards

We know how it feels, you can’t go out as much and wanted to continue doing good work. Maybe it was an event you planned, community events for incredible causes around the world but don’t know what to do. You can now share your blessings and maximize your rewards. Automate your Ramadan Giving by joining the Ramadan Challenge. Your daily giving goals will go to important causes around the world.
