Reimagining Ramadan
When ecosystems merge
Since a young age, I’ve been swimming in the overlap between the incredible legacy of the global Muslim contribution to society and the tech boom which gave birth to devices and apps we can’t live without today.
“The edge effect is an ecological concept that describes how there is a greater diversity of life in the region where the edges two adjacent ecosystems overlap, such as land/water, or forest/grassland.”
In short, when two ecosystems overlap, new life is formed.
I’m itching to help build today’s digital Alhambra.
We want to be inspired by our legacy and use that as a force in building an inspired future.
The fuel powering LaunchGood
We’re serious about designing new experiences. Our team spans across the globe and we’ve held product retreats from Malaysia, Istanbul, Atlanta, Dallas and beyond.
It’s not about working to be the best Muslim-based start-up, it’s about aiming to be the best in the industry period.
In order to fulfil this vision of being the best, we’ve partnered with some of the best: Zileej Studio. Working with Peter Gould and his team has been a natural fit with their wealth of experience with branding in the Muslim space.
Ramadan is part of the global heartbeat
The global Muslim community shares a similar culture. Memes, trends, and conversations transcend borders. If there’s one thing that takes this connection to the next level, it’s Ramadan.
Ramadan is an essential part of the global heartbeat and we’re using technology to tap into that energy. How do we activate this connection for good?
The question becomes: what goals are you going to dedicate your energy towards solving?
Technology is a tool, not a solution.
LaunchGood is not just a crowdfunding platform. LaunchGood is an inspiration engine geared towards reclaiming the narrative of who Muslims are. The magic happens when you’re able to change the narrative within the Muslim community itself.
There’s a combination of keystrokes and clicks that, if done right, can literally change the world. We’ve been trying to discover this combination at LaunchGood.
Ramadan deserves a brand refresh
The default moon in sky branding is oversaturated. There is a level of familiarity, but through our collaboration with Studio Zileej, we asked ourselves how could Ramadan look beyond just moons and lanterns?
We gave rebranding Ramadan a shot
“Different’ and ‘new’ is relatively easy. Doing something that’s genuinely better is very hard.”
– Jony Ive,
3 things come to mind when thinking about how LaunchGood can add value to the online Ramadan experience:
- The crowd comes before the funding
- How can we be a reflection of the community?
- We’re not a community organization, we’re organizing community
With this in mind, “Let’s Ramadan Together” became our direction which aims to take the vibrancy and beauty of the community and reflect it back into the branding and messaging of Ramadan with LaunchGood.
Making Ramadan a daily destination
We’ve introduced a new homepage for Ramadan on LaunchGood. The main function of this page is to display the most relevant and engaging information first. This can change day by day, and in time, it can learn about you and deliver even more relevant content.
Vibrant
The life and color of the page come from the community and artists.
