“La ilaha illAllah, Muhammadur Rasool Allah.”

This is the testimony of faith that scholars mention is obligatory to be uttered at least once in a person’s lifetime.

The testimony of faith that enters a person into the Deen of Islam.

The testimony of faith that encompasses the greatest unearthed reality, the reality of our Lord and His extolled servant.

This is a phrase that we Muslims have etched upon our hearts like an artist with their chisel and wood.

These words give life.

So too do the litanies of,

“La Hawla wa la Quwwatta illa billah.”

Or

“SubhanAllah, w’Alhamdulilah, wa la ilaha illAllah, w’Allahu Akbar.”

These words function like a stream that is used to irrigate a parched field. A field ready to bear crops that will feed the farmer and countless others.

A heart devoid of dhikr is a heart that is on its way to its grave.

Like lungs that cannot breathe, or arms and legs that have been amputated.

One is incomplete without dhikr.

In these blessed days of Dhul Hijjah it is a recommended action to increase in Allah’s remembrance.

With every inhale you should renew your relationship with Allah, and with every exhale you praise His name.

Allahu Akbar

Is He not the greatest?

Is not your existence a result of His blessings on you?

These days are for you to reconnect.

Either you reconnect by physically embarking on a journey to the house of Allah, or you reconnect by invoking His name as you sit in the comfort of your own home.

Sing His praises when you think of His infinite blessings.

By remembering Him after every step that you take.

By sitting after your prayer and following in the sunnah of the beloved,

SubhanAllah

Alhamdulilah

Allahu Akbar

The point is,

To let these blessed days pass without increasing in Dhikr is foolish. Especially when only “in the remembrance of God do hearts find rest.” (Surah Ar-Rad 13:28)
