It’s been some time since our last update, but not to worry, we’ve been quietly busy making heaps of improvements!

The new Discord version of LaunchPass has exploded onto the scene, with tons of groups quickly becoming extremely profitable. Not surprisingly, new profitable businesses are also continuing to launch and rapidly grow on Slack.

Yes — we now have two awesome platforms to meet any community’s unique requirements.

To help our new members select the best option for their community, we are putting together an article that highlights the unique advantages of each platform. But more on this in a future email.

On to the new features…

More flexible trials, and subscriptions

Both quarterly subscriptions (every 3-months), and semi-annual subscriptions (every 6-months) are now supported. Both of which have been very popular requests.

Along with the new subscription periods, we’ve added a shorter trial period of 3-days. A week is just too long for groups sharing lots of valuable content!

Exciting new features for our Discord members

We’ve been hard at work making the Discord platform of LaunchPass on par with our Slack platform. With the following new features — full Discord support has officially arrived.

Sell access to existing roles

It’s now possible to sell access to existing roles. Previously when creating a “paid channel”, we would create a new role, and channel with the same name within your Discord group. Now you can also enter the name of an existing role when publishing your invite pages. Very handy, if you’ve spent a lot of time configuring the role to which you want to sell access!

Canceling subscriptions

In the past, some members would leave the server assuming this would also cancel their subscription. Now when a member leaves the server, we immediately email them with a warning and link to cancel their subscription. This helps eliminate any confusion and reduces those pesky disputes!

Activation Codes

We now send new subscribers a code that they send to the LaunchPass bot to activate their account.

Sending the code:

  1. Confirms that they accept your #terms-and-conditions (create this channel and make it read-only if you don’t have one). This greatly helps fight and win disputes.
  2. Allows members who previously received access to your server for free to purchase access and get their role without first leaving your server.
  3. Verifies the member's identity so they can manage their subscriptions right from within Discord.

Subscription Management

Members deleting, or can’t find emails? This is no longer an issue. Members can view their active subscriptions, and cancel and update their billing details right from the LaunchPass Bot with the cancel and update commands.

It couldn’t be simpler.

Special #launchpass Admin Channel

If you create a private #launchpass channel that the bot has permissions to access, you get the following super-powers.

  1. Lookup members emails, or Discord usernames with the whois command. Just type whois [email, or Discord Member ID, Discord Username] within #launchpass to look up one of your subscribers.
  2. Type RequireCodeForRole for members to first be required to activate their subscription with the code in order to receive the role they purchased.
  3. The #launchpass channel will report whenever a new member activates their subscription providing you with their email. It will also alert you when a user leaves without canceling, so you can potentially save their subscription before they cancel.

We recognize that this is a big update, but not to worry, we are putting together a LaunchPass tutorial screencast showing just how quick and easy it is to set up a paid server with all the best practices. And of course, if you have any questions about the above features feel free to ask!

What next?

We are also deep in the middle of an update to support the new EU SCA regulations for our friends in Europe, and as part of this update, we are improving the design of our invite pages. Although our invite pages have stellar conversion rates, there’s always room for improvement. As part of this update, we will also be refreshing our brand.

Our goal has always been to be the easiest and fastest way to launch a paid chat community, and believe our new design reflects this mission.

If you’ve gotten this far you deserve a sneak peek of our new design which you can see it below!

Thanks for being part of the LaunchPass journey, and as always feel free to email us at support@launchpass.com or visit http://launchpass.com, if you have any questions, comments, feedback, or just want to say hello!

All the best from the LaunchPass Team!
