#LKPier2Pier / #LKBridge2Bridge — Kit List!
This kit list is a bit different to usual because, for once, I’m not camping! Instead, I’m using the extra space to carry additional food and water — this is so I won’t need to stop during the day. I’ve also planned the route to go from (and return to) my front door — meaning I won’t be using public transport at any point.
Partly, this trip is to test out a few things for another adventure I have in mind, but that’s for another time…!
A few items have been sponsored but nothing has made this list unless I would happily spend my own money on it. Here’s what I’m taking:
The bike:
Liv Avail Advanced Pro 1 — aka “Diana” (named after Wonder Woman)
Clothes
- 1 x bike helmet & 1 x cycle cap
- 1 x reusable face mask by KEEN
- 1 x SunGod Vulcans sunglasses
- 1 x Buff
- 1 x Rapha Cargo cycle shorts
- 1 x Rapha Core cycle jersey
- 1 x Rapha Core rain jacket (gifted)
- 1 x Go The Distance t-shirt
- 1 x sports bra
- 1 x knickers
- 1 x Bamboo Crossover vest
- 1 x Bamboo leggings
- 1 x Bamboo trainer socks
In case you hadn’t guessed from the above, I’m a proud ambassador for BAM! Comfiest clothes, ever. Added bonus of the ability to be worn for several days at a time without getting too stinky! You can use the code “Kennington” to get 15% off.
- 1 x summer cycle gloves
- 1 x leg warmers / 1 x arm warmers (for sun protection as much as keeping warm!)
- 1 x Mavic Scorpio MTB Shoe (I’ve had these since I cycled across Ireland in 2015 and I’m devastated that they’ve been discontinued because they’re the comfiest bike shoes, ever! They will need replacing soon (reluctantly) — any recommendations, please let me know!)
- Spare cleats (because, as mentioned above, these shoes are really old…)
- 1 x KEEN Terradora Ethos Shoes
Electrical
- PowerTraveller Swift40 battery bank
- GoPro Hero 7
- iPhone 11 pro + mini tripod
- QuadLock bike mount
- Suunto 9 watch
- Aftershokz earphones (gifted)
- Various leads to charge the above, kept in a small dry bag.
Other
- Murphy, Adventure Mascot
- 1 x tennis ball (for rolling out tight/angry muscles!)
- Spare bungy cords
- Gaffer tape (around one of my water bottles to save space)
- 1 x mini bottle of tyre sealant, presta valve core removal tool, spare valve cores, Maxalami Tubeless Tyre repair kit, bike pump, multitool.
- KT tape, rehydration sachets, Ibuprofen, sterile wipes.
- AETHIC suncream
- Hand sanitiser
- Washbag: bamboo toothbrush, toothpaste, mini bottles of shampoo/conditioner, small bottle of moisturiser, Zoe Bee Green Cream face cream (not sponsored but I love these creams and it’s good to support small businesses! All natural, all vegan and they come in glass jars so no plastic), a small tub of chamois cream.
Food / Hydration
This is definitely taking up most of the room!
I’m taking a hydration bladder (1.5 litres) in the frame bag, an additional 500ml water bottle and 2 soft 500ml water flasks that I can pack down when not in use.
I’ve got a mix of food things — reusable ziplock bags full of oats, reusable ziplock bags full of mixed nuts/dried mango, Banana Soreen, electrolyte/carbohydrate powder mixes, and basically anything else that I can cram in!
I’m taking some Athletic Greens (gifted but also regularly purchased with my own money!) because my diet on the road is never optimal — I consider this to be nutritional insurance. I take it every day when home, too!
Nuzest Clean Lean protein also in the mix — again, something I use every day when home and something I’m taking to help boost my nutritional content when on the move. I happily bought Nuzest for a couple of years before becoming an ambassador for them — “laurakairos” to get 15% off!
