How Beings From a Distant Galaxy Might View the Human Race
They are at it again.
What have they done now?
Exactly what you predicted.
The blue planet. Have they finally destroyed it?
Not yet, but it seems certain they will very soon. On and on they go, consuming, building, and destroying. And no one questions their behavior. They have no self-control.
This is so disturbing. You would think their science was good enough by now to warn them of their reckless actions.
Sadly, it is.
Ah, so it is the politics then. The greed that blinds them. To have the knowledge in front of them and do nothing? This is unforgivable. But then the selfishness of the humans is unprecedented in the universe.
Yes it is. For such a long time we have hoped they would learn from their mistakes. But they don’t. They keep making the same ones over and over. Starting wars. Killing each other. I know of no other worlds that still do such barbaric things.
Such pain they inflict upon each other. I will never understand that. Perhaps it is a flaw that permeates the species. Something they cannot help.
That is what my parents believed. What they taught me. But it is so tragic. So senseless. I pity them for their ignorance. Also, if we are fair, they are not all bad. We cannot deny that there have been exceptions in their history. Moments when some of their leaders tried to change their direction.
Yes, there have been peacemakers, scientists, and outspoken advocates who showed promise. But they’re human, after all. They don’t last. And so the cycle begins again, once the good are gone. How exhausting it is to watch them circle round and round and never move forward.
At the very least, they are persistent.
