Abstract Art Is Not The Creation Of Another Reality But The True Vision Of Reality — Piet Mondrian
Texture | Abstracting The Details
Texture is formed by the visual consistency or the physical feel of a surface. Visual texture give the illusion of 3 dimensional variations upon its 2 dimensional surface. Generally created by the repetition of the shape and line, photography, drawings and paintings use visual texture for its realistic quality. In contrast, physical textures are tactile like fur, wood, sand, and metal, glass. When using texture in your artwork it is crucial to use light to affect the view of surfaces that are soothingly smooth and ruggedly rough. The use of both variations of texture can give a sense of personality to a piece by creating emphasis, rhythm, and contrast.

Texture | Storytelling
Abstract shapes, lines, colors, space & perspective combine to form extraordinary views of the mundane. Gerideau Squires’ symbolic work, is both simple and complex. In appearance, the works stimulate visual interest. In practice, the works are detailed isolations of common forms. It is these contradictory ideas that challenge the dichotomous mind to look deeper. Only when we extract and appreciate the nuances of the ordinary cacophony, are we able to enjoy our own experience with her works of art.
