Florence: A favorite thus far

Lauren and I have enjoyed so much of Florence. Everywhere we look is stunningly beautiful. But perhaps the part we’ve enjoyed the most is how we don’t really need to so or see anything to have a great time. We’ve spent hours just walking around the city not doing anything in particular, just taking it all in (including the gelato!)

We spent the morning walking through street markets which smelled like leather and fresh baked goods. After, we wandered into Mercato Centrale which is basically a huge indoor food fair. We wandered from booth to booth and couldn’t believe how amazing everything looked and smelled! I settled with more bruschetta and Lauren had a flatbread pizza. We both had a glass of Lambrusco for my mom because it’s her favorite. She’s not wrong! The wine was fantastic!

We spent the rest of the afternoon with no particular agenda. We stumbled on a farmer’s market and meandered through looking at some artist’s amazing watercolor paintings and taking in all the smells of fresh produce and homemade bread. The weather has been incredible in Florence, so we were more than happy to be outside.

Lauren found some amazing watercolor art by the river. There is amazing street art all over Florence, but the one she found was a beautiful scene of the river and skyline. We found ourselves walking by the river because we couldn’t get enough of that view!

I snapped this really quick on my phone. It’s had to believe this is a real place and not just a postcard!

Upon more meandering, we came across gelato that was carved into flowers, so of course, we had to try it. Lauren had passionfruit and I had creme and black cherry. It was definitely a tourist move, but it was too cute to pass up.

We’ve so enjoyed every moment in Florence, and wish we could stay just a few days longer. Our Air B&B host was so right when he told us not to worry about cramming everything into our few days here because Florence is a special place you will likely return to. Lauren and I know that will be especially true for us!
