Having kids or a new baby on the way adds a lot to someone’s to-do list. Getting a will or trust done should always be on top.

Sure, it’s easy to push it off but the hard truth is: (1) we don’t know if or when anything will happen to us (translation: when we’re going to die) and (2) leaving our children’s future in the hands of the state is never a good idea.

Contrary to common belief, wills & trusts are not just for the wealthy. It’s true that it’s best to get a lawyer to prepare one for you and that lawyers can be expensive, that’s not your only option now.

Here is a quick summary of your options, costs, and other considerations when getting a will or trust done.

This is a repost from Lawgood’s blog at www.lawgood.io and was done in partnership with Court Square Law Project.

If you have any children (or any one the way), getting a will or trust done should be on the top of your list.
