I became pretty sure the universe didn’t have my address. I’m telling you this because I don’t want you to despair. Using the Law of Attraction consciously is not easy. I’m not a guru or an expert on the subject. I read some books and blogs and I watched a lot of videos. I’m telling my story because I am someone just like you. I’m not Wayne Dyer or Esther Hicks who are what you might call gurus on the subject, had all those “social media gurus” not made a mockery of the word. My pitfalls or more likely prat falls may help you and if you think I’m a bit daft, then have a laugh on me! Either way you’re just a little curious aren’t you?
The way it’s explained in many different books on the subject is that the universe wants to give me stuff. It’s a veritable Stuff R Us and I am the little kid with my nose pressed up against the window dreaming about all the fun stuff inside. So why don’t I just go in? I wasn’t allowing the door to open. I was pulling when the sign clearly said push. Resistance is what they call it. The bane of all desires.
So I’m out walking the dog and I’m thinking about the movies. I love movies and I was thinking about movies I love. For some reason my thoughts turned to The Terminator movies, specifically the one where Sarah Conner aka Linda Hamilton could put many guys to shame with her muscle definition. Many many guys! Since my dog wasn’t ready to go home we kept walking and I kept thinking and then bingo! It happened. I got a piece of the puzzle. When you watch a movie like Terminator what are you doing without even realizing it? For 120 minutes you suspend your disbelief. In real life if someone told you that machines would take over the world would you really believe your toaster was out to get you? Okay, if your answer to that question is yes, you might need a new toaster. But the rest of us who sat through the movie allowed ourselves to be transported because we suspend our disbelief. Can you imagine watching Mary Poppins and thinking the whole time that she cannot really do those things. How sad if you watch Willy Wonka and think that a chocolate factory like that can’t exist. We have been conditioned our whole lives to think a certain way about how life works. Undoing that conditioning takes time. To get around all that conditioning start by doing what you do when you watch a movie.
I believe this thought came to me because the universe felt my desire to find a way around my resistance. What do you know, the universe had my address all along. It’s important to recognize it when the universe sends something your way. I mean who or in this case what, likes to be taken for granted. Besides giving a pat on the back to the universe for a job well done it also helps me recognize that the law may actually work.
My resistance likes to think it’s tougher than any universal law. It will keep trying to challenge the Law of Attraction to a duel. The universe will keep sending me help to defeat it. Why? Because I asked and I know the universe will answer. I gave it my contact information.
