How Can Time Speed up and Slow Down?

Can time stand still or is it just an illusion?’

I noticed this strange phenomenon a week ago. Although the day is still 24 hours, it feels longer.

As we each sit in our own time/space continuum, I’m wondering if you’ve felt it too.

I’m sensing that Mother Earth is relaxing and breathing a sigh of relief that we are in our rooms reflecting on the harm we have done her in pursuit of a “better” life.

Although she is still spinning at a thousand miles an hour, she is dancing. Rejoicing in the cleaner air, the clearer waters. She’s over the moon that we humans are no longer in a race to nowhere.

We have stopped rushing to be somewhere else (because we can’t), we are more aware of being here, now, and savoring connection more than ever before.

We are living in the present moment, and when we do that

“Time is not a measure, but a quality.” — Paulo Coelho

In this brief clip, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson says something I found profound in answer to the question — what is Time?

“Time makes us all a prisoner of the present.”
