YouTube can be a great source of humor, a fantastic resource for accessible information, and a wonderful way to learn more about the experiences of people in their everyday life. Here’s my favourite 5 Law Student YouTube Channels, organized by who I think their content would be best directed to and useful for. I hope you enjoy connecting with these content creators, and find value in their stories and personal lessons.

Studying for the LSAT: Babs (Banter with Babs)

Babs is a current 1L at Harvard Law School, who shares her experiences writing the LSAT and applying to law schools in an accessible and articulate way. Her LSAT tips are incredibly helpful, and I would encourage anyone who is studying for the LSAT to check her out!

Writing Applications and Personal Statements: Shrini (Legally Brunette)

Shrini is a 1L at Osgoode Law in Toronto, who shares her experience and great tips for applying to law schools in Ontario. I really enjoy hearing more about her thought process regarding her choice to apply to specific law schools, and the ways in which she showcased her unique personal experiences in her personal statements. Shrin’s content is insightful, and is particularly effective for applicants looking to enter into Canadian JD programs.

1L: Leandra Yomo

Grab a snack and beverage, and enjoy Leandra’s artfully edited weekly vlogs. A 1L at UCI, Leandra takes her viewers through a week in her life in a way that is so beautifully honest and authentic, you can’t help but want to watch more! Leandra speaks often about the importance of maintain one’s mental health, especially while in law school. Schedule a break and spend some time with Leandra, I know you’ll feel her warmth and genuine happiness through the screen.

2L and 3L: Liam Porritt

I first came across Liam’s channel when I found one of his productivity tip videos last year. I was immediately hooked. Currently a trainee solicitor in the UK (the Canadian + American version of articling), Liam creates content that motivates and encourages his viewers to be their absolute best. I really enjoy his tips regarding focused study techniques, specifically those around his daily routine and note taking practice. Liam will show you some awesome life (and law school) hacks, while always spreading a positive attitude. His videos will most definitely put you in the mood to get stuff done!

After Law School (and beyond!): Grace (Lipsticks and Lattes)

An established vlogger and articling student, Grace has been recording her experiences since beginning law school. I have always enjoyed Grace’s commitment to being transparent and honest with her viewers, no matter how stressful or overwhelmed she may feel. Her advice regarding failure, perseverance and determination is powerful. Grace has many videos about navigating life post-law school; the good, the bad, and the ugly — but they all showcase the power of positive attitude!
