Rewind Advanced Features
Rewind is a powerful replay app for creators on any platform. Below are some tips & tricks to make the most out of Rewind.
The Replay Buffer
This is something we reference throughout both our apps & guides. The buffer is a “memory” of the last few seconds of your stream. The default is 20 seconds and can be adjusted at the bottom of your Streamlabs OBS output settings.
Offline Replays
Want to utilize the power of Rewind to capture content while you are offline? Simple! At the lower right of Streamlabs OBS you can start the replay buffer if it is not already running. Be sure to have the buffer running otherwise we are not able to capture replays for you.
Reduce CPU / GPU Usage
Out of the box Streamlabs OBS does not optimize your replay settings. We strongly suggest doing the following steps unless you are recording at a higher quality than you are streaming.
- Open your Streamlabs OBS Settings
- Go to the output tab on the left
- Scroll down to the recording section
- If your output mode is set to Simple (default) look for the setting “Recording Quality” and make sure it is set to “Same as stream”
- If your output mode is set to Advanced look for the “Recording” setting. This will likely say either “Software H.264” or “Hardware NVENC.” If it does we encourage you to change it to “Use Stream Encoder”
Audience Meter
The Audience Meter is a unique engagement for your viewers. By enabling it you empower your viewers to create replays that play live on your stream.
To enable this feature:
- Navigate to the Rewind tab at the top of Streamlabs OBS
- On the left side of the Rewind interface go to Hotkeys / Actions
- Click the Audience Meter tab
- Enable & configure the Meter
You can also choose from a number of different styles for the meter from the Style tab on the left of Rewind.
Social Sharing
No one wants their fans to miss a minute of the action. If you have not already we encourage you to link your Twitter on the home screen of Rewind.
After saving replays you can share them directly to Twitter from the Library tab of rewind! Simply click the Twitter icon on the replay you want to tweet out and compose a tweet.
