No matter what stage you’re at in your career, marketing your music can be daunting to say the least. You’ve worked on it for weeks or months (potentially years) and you want to get the best result for your hard work. But come release day, there’s currently not much to do besides posting on Socials and crossing your fingers.

With the right strategies and tactics, every artist (major label support or not) can get their music in front of the right people. Here are our tips for promoting your tracks independently and getting your music heard.

  1. Reach out directly to your fans

Directly reaching out to fans is one of the most effective ways to get people to listen to your music. Laylo makes it really easy to find your super fans (fans that have the highest engagement with your brand) and directly message them in a few clicks.

Step 1 — Find your Super fans

First, find your artist and check out your top fans list. All your biggest fans are already there. You can then check them off and add them to a segment by clicking “Add Fans”

Step 2 — Add them to a segment

Step 3— Write your message

From there, you can type a message and in one click send your song to all those fans. (Currently this feature only supports Twitter)

The message will go through the social platform

Step 4 — Watch the fans react

2. Find the right blogs

Finding the right blogs to target is incredibly hard and time consuming. Reaching out to the wrong blogs can be a huge waste of time.

The key is to target blogs that have a similar music taste to the stuff you’re putting out. Using Laylo, you can search similar artists to you and filter down to only blogs. Sift through the list based on size and music taste, and reach out to them via email or direct message. Laylo often provides the email for the blogs, and if not you’ll be able to find contact info via their social channels.

It always helps to reach out to blogs in reference to a certain article. Start by saying something like “I came across your post on Still Woozy and really loved it.”

Conclusion

There’s more you can do to promote your music than just texting your friends and posting on social media. Tools like Laylo exist to get your music heard and grow your audience. Let us know how it works for you :)
