Expecto Patronum! The Patronus charm is definitely my favorite spell from the Harry Potter universe, and you bet your bottom dollar I’ve taken the Pottermore quiz to find out my official Patronus.

If you don’t know, the Patronus charm is a protective spell that shields you from Dementors that encompasses hope and happiness. When a witch or wizard performs the spell, they project their Patronus which takes the form of an animal gaurdian.

By now, you’ve probably already taken the Pottermore Patronus test. But sometimes the Patronus we’re given isn’t reflective of what we want our Patronus to be. So I asked around the Little, Brown for Young Readers office to find out what animal book character they’d want as their Patronus. These are their answers!

“My book Patronus is a wolf, either Wolfie the bunny or Jacob Black in wolf form always. Although these characters are incredibly different, their wolfish tendencies are similar. Wolfie, Jacob, and I all love to eat and sleep. We all value family and loyalty to the people we care most about. And lots of times we like to be left alone to think, dream, or go on an adventure.” — Morgan Maple, Publicity Assistant

“The lizard monster from Hangry, of course. What’s a better defense against Dementors than being way too crabby to be around!” — Nisha Panchal-Terhune, Associate Director of Creative Services

“Toothless from the How to Train Your Dragon books is my patronus. He’s a lazy sass-master, which really jives with me. He and I could get into some real trouble. But he’s brave when it counts, and I trust that he’d protect me from dementors. Also movie Toothless is just as cute, so like… it’s a win win.” — Savannah Kennelly, Digital Marketing Assistant

“My book animal Patronus is a pig, specifically Toot & Puddle. Pigs are smart, capable problem solvers, and they’re VERY clean. I’m mostly Puddle — I like the comforts of home — but I like to travel and have adventures like Toot, too. And I strive to be as loyal and as good a friend as both Toot and Puddle.” — Emilie Polster, Executive Director of Marketing

“Mine is Bunny from Please Don’t Eat Me! Anyone who knows me knows that I love rabbits and am the crazy mama to two of them. And Bunny is very determined to help Bear resolve their hunger, even though they don’t become friends until the end. A lot of my friendships actually start like that — I become very intent on helping someone figure out their problem, and as a result, develop a new friendship!” — Valerie Wong, Digital Marketing Associate

“I’d want Halo, my favorite Superpower Dog! While all the Superpower Dogs are pretty amazing (and super adorable), Halo is particularly brave and fearless — and if she can save people from disaster zones, she’d definitely be able to save me from a bunch of Dementors.” — (Me!)
