Star Week
Stars Exploding
A 7th Star Week poem to ward off bad luck
Star explodes,
then another one, this
celebratory fireworks lights
the evening sky, wards
off bad luck.
Today is le Quatorze Juillet, or, as it is known in English-speaking countries, Bastille Day. The celebrations, including fireworks (and champagne), inspired this poem. Let’s ignite some poem-shaped fireworks today, to shake off all that bad luck we have had in 2020, and get into a spirit of building an inclusive world.
This poem is written for Star Week. A wonderful initiative by Jenny Justice, inspired by the Floral Week fun ignited by Tapan Avasthi. Star Week is a poetry party where poets aim to inspire hope. As Jenny puts it:
Now let’s look up — let’s dream, let’s aspire, let’s become overwhelmed with the biggest of big pictures.
