When I Go to Sleep Tonight

Photo by Shane McKnight on Unsplash

when i go to sleep tonight i hope to rest
my head upon your chest. nuzzle my lips
into your neck and trace your poetry in a
hazy fog of bliss. i hope to spell my name
out on your skin and call you back into a
little piece of myself.

but you’re gone and there’s no poetry in
that. just silence and a little less of me.
