Get to know Rachel McConnell who curates and hosts Lead with Tempo.

What was the last meal you cooked?

Lasagne — it wasn’t bad at all.

Dogs or cats?

Cats, always.

What’s the one book that changed your life?

Heartburn by Nora Ephron — since reading it I aspire to write like Nora.

Popcorn or ice-cream?

Ice cream.

Who inspires you?

Literally anyone who has the focus to become exceptional at one thing. It’s something I wish I was better at.

What was the last good thing you watched — series or film?

The White Lotus, it was so compelling.

Introvert? Extrovert? Or both?

Introvert by nature, extrovert when I need to be.

Which app do you use the most?

Probably Twitter sadly, but I also stare in wonder at the French fashion in the Sézane app much more often than I should.

Night out or night in?

It’s seasonal — in the winter I’d say in.

What’s your drink of choice (soft or otherwise)?

Champagne please (if you’re paying).

The worst advice you’ve ever been given?

To imagine everyone’s naked when presenting to a big group — who on earth came up with that one?!

When was the last time you laughed till you cried?

Probably watching the late Sean Lock on 8 of 10 Cats does Countdown. If you’re not familiar, the Carrot in a Box game is an excellent taster.

Early bird or night owl?

Early bird.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.

Where’s your favourite holiday destination?

The Maldives — it’s heaven on earth.

What one thing would you do if you were president/prime minister for the day?

OMG there’s too much. But let’s start by firing the whole cabinet and hiring people who know what they’re doing.

Who would play you in a movie of your life?

Drew Barrymore or Aubrey Plaza.

What’s one thing you never leave home without?

Lip balm. I have them everywhere.

Tea or coffee?

Coffee…but in a martini.

Which dead tech would you bring back to life?

I don’t know if a typewriter counts, but that ‘clackety clack…ping!’ was just so satisfying.
