What makes me want to better myself every single day? Today — Welcoming College Graduates
Today was a big day — we welcomed the newest group of college graduates to our company. Their fresh faces and eager energy filled the room. These new hires are ready to take on the world. I remember being in their shoes, full of dreams and hungry to make a difference. Now I get to help guide them on this journey.
As they looked around, taking it all in, I saw their wheels turning. Who will be my new colleagues? Which teams will I work on? There’s so much to learn and so many people to meet. It’s an exciting and anxious time.
I want to make this the best onboarding experience for them. My role is to nurture their talent and set them up for success. I strive to lead by example, bringing my best self to work daily. Their passion motivates me. Seeing those faces, full of potential, reminds me why I’m here — to mentor the next generation.
When I looked around that room, I saw the future of our company. I felt grateful for the chance to welcome these talented individuals. They’re here, dreams in hand, ready to take on the world and make a difference. Now it’s up to us to guide them. I’m ready to help them grow and thrive.
The energy in that room was palpable. If we nurture that energy and passion, just imagine what they can accomplish. The future is bright with this group! I’m humbled to play a small role in their journey. Let’s give them the tools to achieve their dreams. I’m excited to see where their passion takes them.

What makes me want to better myself every single day? Today — Creating Something New
The excitement of proposing a new opportunity. When I create something new, it feels like I’m bringing something to life. There’s an incredible rush in that.
Crafting a proposal is no small feat. First, we dive deep to analyze the problem space and customer needs. We explore possible solutions, weigh approaches, and consider capabilities. It’s a long hike to the summit, requiring diligence and stamina.
Finally, the proposal comes together. Ideas take shape on paper. It’s immensely satisfying, like reaching the peak after a long climb. We feel a sense of accomplishment.
Now our proposal will take flight on its own wings. It will land in new hands, hopefully sparking engagement and input. Will it get approved? Will we embark on this new journey together? The future is uncertain.
But in this moment, we savor the joy of creation. We are proud of building something new that could make a difference. The hard work is worth it.
Proposing new opportunities pushes me to keep improving. It forces me to analyze problems deeply and create thoughtful solutions. My skills grow with each proposal. The excitement of the process motivates me daily. I get to dream up new ideas that could become game-changers. The challenge stretches my abilities.
Sure, rejection may come. But whether my proposals take off or not, I’ll keep honing my craft. The act of creating is reward enough. It makes me determined to bring my best self each day.
I’ll continue proposing new opportunities. The satisfaction I gain in shaping ideas into tangible solutions is profound. If I can make someone’s life better through my creations, that’s all that matters.
The journey makes me want to be better every single day.
Wednesday
What makes me want to better myself every single day? Today — volunteering at a local food bank!
This Wednesday, I joined with my colleagues in a volunteering opportunity. September is our company’s month of caring. Teams from all over plan activities. We clear bushes, mulch parks, serve at food banks, and more. Some tasks are physical, some require mental focus.
It’s astonishing what 10–15 people can achieve. Give it to 1–2 people, it feels like work, it’s daunting. Tasks might take days. It might not get done. But as a team, we finish large tasks in a few hours. Sometimes, we finish early and search for more.
Why? It’s the team’s power. Alone, tasks seem huge. Together, with everyone’s skills, work zooms. At work, we spend weeks planning. Each works on different parts. It takes time to bring it all together.
At the volunteer site, work is planned. We get one explanation. We’re here to work, not solve. We line up, divide tasks, and work like a well-oiled machine.
Doing this daily would be dull. So, occasionally is perfect. Different teams rotate taking ownership of different tasks. It’s a short half-day. Each team leaves with pride. No one feels drained. Lots of needed work is done.
I cherish this chance to work shoulder-to-shoulder. It’s awesome to unite as a team. It pushes me to be better every day!

What makes me want to better myself every single day? Today — driving decision on a cross-company opportunity
Have you ever wondered what keeps me striving for improvement every single day? It’s the result of a significant decision we just made. After months of hard work, we identified a path forward on an opportunity that required the support and alignment of leaders across our entire company.
We didn’t rush it. We meticulously formulated and refined our proposal, making small adjustments that led to significant alignments. We sought out input, reviewed, and fine-tuned. And finally, the day arrived.
As we gathered to review our meticulously defined opportunity, we welcomed concerns and fielded questions. Our decision is now ready to be revealed to the world.
In large global organizations like ours, complex challenges seldom have a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s a journey, a marathon, not a sprint. But this process is absolutely vital. Aligning on the opportunity and approach allows us to rally our teams towards a common goal. No more endless debates — it’s time for swift and united action.
The path to this moment required patience, attentive listening, advocacy, in-depth analysis, and compelling storytelling. But when everything falls into place, decisions like these become the rocket fuel that propels a company’s growth and efficiency to new heights.
The linchpin in this process? It was forging a shared understanding. Step by step, we built alignment, welcomed more voices into the conversation, and absorbed invaluable feedback. It took time, but in the end, we reached a decision that garnered unanimous support.
Now, the real journey begins. Teams forge ahead with crystal-clear objectives, leaving behind the days of perpetual debate. Streamlined decisions like these are the driving force that catapult a company forward.
Being an integral part of this collective effort fills me with an immense sense of pride. The meticulous process of gaining alignment motivates me to bring my absolute best to work every single day.
Contributing to something greater than ourselves is an extraordinary wellspring of motivation. It pushes me to be better every day!
Finally
Hope you enjoyed my journey over the last 4 days. Every day we would have unique experiences. Every day gives me a reason to make myself better.
Until next time,
