Technology is like bread or milk: It grows stale. But wisdom is like wine: it’s valued more as it ages.

Do you watch old films and only realize how “out-of-date” they seem when you see the phones, computers, and cars? The most potent example is the magnificent moment from 1987, the scene when movie watchers saw a cellphone on the beach for the first time.

We rushed to the theater to see Wall Street in 1987. It was the first time we ever brought our newborn infant to the theater, so I recall each moment vividly.

Perhaps the most memorable moment that made us gasp in 1987 was when Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) calls Bud Fox (a very young Charlie Sheen) from the beach.
