Lech Walesa: When We’re Building Something Bigger, That Should Be the End of the Rat Race
Walesa to America: Communism is naive, Capitalism without Christianity is a rat race — a new order is on its way
Lech Walesa, who pushed the first domino that toppled communism, sees the war in Ukraine as a sign that older orders are falling apart and a new order is about to take their place.
Walesa sees the current order collapsing: “Everything else looks like traffic would look if we removed all the traffic signs. So one system has fallen down, but the other has not yet been created. So we still don’t know what the role of the future order should look like.”
The former Polish president and revolutionary came to the University of Michigan, warning the United States must take the lead in restoring Capitalism wedded to a Christian heart.
The choices: Communism, Capitalism, or a third new way
“In theory, on the surface, communism seems better, but it is so good, it can’t be implemented anywhere,” Walesa said. “It is just so naive that it’s impossible to make it happen, so let’s not just toy with it. Let’s just throw it out.”
