U.S. Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., and California Gov. Gavin Newsom are competing to be the Democratic common sense candidate for 2028.

The hardest hurdle for Democrats is that Trump has focused on issues on which 70 percent or 80 percent of Americans agree. Democrats have opposed nearly every Trump idea or nominee, sinking in popularity.

“I have high approval ratings because I’m using common sense,” Trump says.

When asked about daylight savings time on Friday, Trump noted that it was one of those 50/50 issues, so he was sticking with the easier wins.

A CNN poll found 80 percent of viewers thought “Democrats embarrassed themselves” at Donald Trump’s March 4 address to Congress.

The party’s popularity just hit a new low: 21 percent, while 40 percent approve of Republicans.

Fetterman captured the common sense voter with this analysis: “A sad cavalcade of self owns and unhinged petulance. It only makes Trump look more presidential and restrained. We’re becoming the metaphorical car alarms that nobody pays attention to — and it may not be the winning…
