Bite sized leadership advice

How we, as leaders, respond in times of crisis defines our leadership. As the world around us redefines how we work our leadership needs to adapt with it.

This is the time to use our empathy, our emotional intelligence and our communications as leaders to provide an environment where our teams can thrive in difficult circumstances.

Take a moment to think about leader you want to be. Step forward a year and look back, what do you want your team to say about you.

Recognise that times of crisis threaten our safety. Be consistent as a leader, create a safe and predictable environment for your team to thrive during unsettling times.

Remember that times of change are times of opportunity, the world we knew will have changed by the time the crisis eases. It will be a new normal.

As a change-maker, what do you want that new normal to look like.

And finally Communicate, communicate, communicate. More so than ever and especially if you are working remotely. Spend time asking questions of your team to really listen to them and be clear on your expectations.

Positive feedback is always more motivating than tasks and negative feedback.

Times of crisis define your leader. What is the leader you want to be?
