Bite sized leadership advice

Put your own safety mask on first, before helping others. We hear this every time we taxi out for takeoff and it applies to leadership too.

Leadership is not about selflessly running yourself into the ground, it is about being the best leader for your team.

Constant change is exhausting. As a leader it will exhaust you first.

We can’t help others if we are not the best leaders we can be.

To be the best leader you need to be the best you. Your resilience is important.

Do whatever builds your energy, whether that is spending time with those who make your heart sing, going for a walk, meditating or heading to the gym or for a run.

What about something playful or my favourite; dream. Take yourself out of the world you are in and dream about an unconstrained world and what that could look like.

Look after yourself so that you can help others. This is your duty of care to your team and yourself.

This is part of our Leadership Wizdom series, bite sized leadership advice for leaders who wish to improve their leadership, but don’t have much time. For more indepth articles check out The Change Wizard
