Following a successful start in 2021 with fantasy football, Nomo drop, and CryptoFantasy, the team has their sights set on pivoting to the hardwood. As in fantasy basketball, you will be able to set lineups and earn points based on which players’ real-life performances. By staking these players, you’ll be eligible to earn rewards in the weekly prize pool. You might ask,
How do I pick my team?
Well, we’ve come up with 2 ways: Minting/Drafting and Free Agents
Minting/Drafting will be the primary method of assembling your team. By minting, you’ll acquire a random player out of the 6187 available. If you’re wondering how there are 6187 player tokens yet only ~450 players in the NBA, have no fear: the rarity distribution will allow for lower entry cost, more people to participate and have better chances at scoring points in the league.
Players are sorted in the following manner:
Draft Eligible Players:
Tier 1–5 per Athlete
Tier 2–10 per Athlete
Tier 3–15 per Athlete
Tier 4–20 per Athlete
Stat-sheet stuffers like Giannis or LaMelo fall in Tier 1 while a fan-favorite like Bol Bol falls into tier 4. Aside from drafting players via minting, you can also pick up Free Agents. Free Agents will be available on a 1:1 basis after the initial draft, so it carries more weight with only 1 of that player up for grabs. FA’s will be reserved by the DAO and available to participants to buy on secondary markets (Opensea). This way, general managers can decide if they’d like to pick up a sleeper player, older veteran, or that hidden gem that only YOU know about.
League Scoring
The League will use standard Fantasy Basketball scoring:
- Three Point Field Goals: 3 points
- Two Point Field Goals: 2 points
- Free Throws Made: 1 point
- Rebounds: 1.2 points
- Assists: 1.5 points
- Blocked Shots: 2 points
- Steals: 2 points
- Turnovers: -1 points
Each Fantasy Week will commence on Mondays at 12:00 AM PST, meaning you have to stake your players in the league (via the Leaguedao dapp on Polygon) by 11:50 PM PST on Sunday for your player to be eligible to compete for that week’s rewards.
