Stress and anxiety are part of one’s regular life as a leader. More for women in Leadership as she manages and juggles various roles in her life. Since leadership often leaves you alone, overcoming anxiety is even more difficult.

The irony is that women act powerfully all the time, but in ways different from men. In other words, we wield power less directly than men. We’ve learned to be less direct so we will not be perceived as taking too much power away from men.

Here are some coaching tips from the book and don’t’ try to follow them all at once. Choose one or two and work on: -

✤ 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 — It seems simple but it’s one that is often resisted. Have a long talk and good talk with yourself. 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢 — “𝘐’𝘮 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘮𝘦𝘵, 𝘵𝘰𝘰.”

✤ 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 -If you can see it, you can be it. Have a purpose and vision for what you aspire. Bring them into reality. 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢 — “𝘐’𝘮 𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵.”

✤ 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 — Tame your inner critics. 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢 — “𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘐 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭.”

✤ 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗴𝗹𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 — Be watchful what’s happening around you. Allowing to remain grounded. 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢- “𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘮𝘦.”

✤ 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 — Write down what you want others to be saying about you, then follow it up with specific actions to make it happen. 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢 — “𝘐 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵.”

✤ 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁 — Deal with the resistance in ecosystem in healthy and productive way. Get professional help like coach and mentor to bounce your point of view and learn. 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢 — “𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘶𝘱.”

✤𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 -Always ask open ended questions on what you’re perceived. Do not hesitate to ask from diverse perspective. 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢 — “𝘐’𝘮 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨.”
