“This is our biggest game yet!”

Hello, everyone! I’m Diego “Dirole” Rodríguez, Game Designer at LEAP Game Studios and today I have the honor to present the very first entry regarding the development of our new game in the works, El Tunche. Let me tell you a little bit about it.

El Tunche is a 2D, beat ’em up game with rogue-like elements, hand-drawn art, set in the Amazon rainforest. Think of it like this: Lost Castle meets Rogue Legacy in the jungle.

Rumi’s melee combo attack.

We aim to have four starting playable characters and some more that players will need to unlock through several playthroughs. The game will also feature a skill tree with upgradeable abilities, a crafting system, a day/night cycle with bigger and stronger enemies that will appear during the latter, and several other unique characteristics that I’ll be telling you about in posts to come.

Concept art: Pancho, Rumi and a possible playable character.

The game is still in a pre-alpha stage, but here at LEAP we are working every day very hard to bring this project to life. We aim to bring you an early experience sooner than you might think.

Concept art: three of the many enemies that you will find in the game.

I’ll be posting here weekly to share some more news and updates, so don’t forget to follow LEAP’s Vault of Knowledge for more info about El Tunche!
