As it’s the start of 2022, and you already have made some resolutions for your future earnings, personal development, gaining knowledge, and so on…... And you know it very well that these plans will only get fulfilled and you can achieve your goals only if you did hard work on a daily basis and plan your every day wisely. May Allah gives you the consistency to achieve what you have planned.

But the problem is that how to do that? How to plan our day? What to add to our daily task list? That’s what I am gonna explain in this article. So, Let’s starttttttttttttt🤩

Recently, I come to know an approach for managing your daily base routine in a productive way and personally, I get inspired by its practicality and benefits. This approach is called OSDI. Now, what is OSDI?

OSDI is a short word of the following four keywords.

O: Operational

S: Strategic

D: Development

I: Impact

This model is very practical to achieve your goals for a day, year, or life. This can shape your entire personality and can also direct you towards those things which matter most in your life but you are ignoring these. That’s why I get inspired by this model. Plan your days, Months, and year and act in light of this model.

Start of Day

Before sleeping or after waking up in the morning, first, make a TO-DO list for your day and write down those things which will you wanna do. And then Write these respective letters (OSDI) in front of tasks by seeing their category. If any letter is missing, then you have to ponder and change your plans again. Now, Let’s see them one by one.

O: Operational

These are the tasks or things that are necessary for our survival on daily basis. Without this, you can’t manage your day or life properly. For example:

If today is the last day of submitting electricity bill, then you must have to do it today. This is an O (operational) task to do. If you will not do it today, you can face difficulty in paying fine or cutting of connection.

If tomorrow is your final exam. And if you don’t prepare for it today you will not be able to attempt it properly, which results for your failure. So, Preparing for tomorrow’s exam is an O task for a day.

Here are two general O (operational tasks) of the day for us being Muslims.

Salah & Good Deeds

This is our survival activity for the world and hereafter life. If you don’t offer salah and ignore opportunities of doing good deeds then how will you claim Jannah the hereafter? How will you get successful in your eternal life?

→ Ponder over Qur’an

If you didn't do this, how will you get to know that what Allah wants from us? What is the meaning of our existence on this earth? How can we please Allah and how to spend that life?

Besides other tasks, these two general examples must be in our daily to-do list and plans, because these are our operational things without which we can’t survive.

S: Strategic

These are those tasks which will give you a benefit in your long term future. It is either be hard work for a career or business.

Examples

  1. Pursue a career as a developer
  2. Wanna start a business

If you want to become any of these, you have to gain knowledge and do hard work on a daily basis. Because these things gonna benefit in your life in the long term in respect of earning. So, add this stuff in your daily base planning and Add the word S in front of it.

D: Development

These are the tasks that give you benefit in your short-term future. Being a human, You have to get mature and need to correct your wrongs day by day. You have to groom yourself on daily basis for becoming a better version of yourself and for becoming a great personality. And for achieving these goals, You also have to do some things.

Like Reading books, Listening to Podcasts, Attending beneficial seminars, Healthy groups discussions of friends or community.

Must Add this kind of task to your daily base to-do list and write word D: development in front of these. From my perspective, These tasks should be on our list on daily basis, because improving ourselves shapes our behaviors and polish us in such a way that we even can’t imagine.

I: Impact

This is the most important section of this blog. We’re living in a world where we have to take care of others too. Following the Islamic philosophy of living in society, we have to make it better. And for making it better, we have to contribute to it by creating a positive impact. Now how to do that? Here are some examples.

Write beneficial Blogs & content for changing giving a direction to people.

Give lectures and have healthy discussion with community of this society.

Share beneficial information by using social media platforms.

How many of us doing this? And I think that Instead of doing this, we’re doing the opposite. Completely at the angle of 180 degrees. What types of our WhatsApp, Insta, Fb posts, and statuses are like? Songs? Vulgar poetry? Memes for roasting others and other bad stuff? Didn't we are answerable for that kind of stuff in Akhira? So, change the norms of society by adding your valuable positive contributions. You must have to add this type of task to your daily To-Do list too and write the word I in front of it.

Sample

An example of your daily To-Do list can be like this:

But keep this thing in your mind ✋

Whatever plan had you made, Ask The Ultimate Planner to make you able to achieve that. Without his will, you can’t do anything. Because Allah says in Qur’an:

And you cannot intend (to do anything) unless it is so willed by Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. (Qur’an, 81:29)

So, That’s all from my side. Jazak Allah for reading! May Allah accept our efforts and make this article to change personalities. You can share this article with your friends for sake of their improvements. Be a part of sadqa-e-jaria.

Signing off until the next article, Allah Hafiz!
