As for my final project in the course Bitcoin&Blockchain, I decided to build virtual car museum that would (in theory) accept both fiat money and crypto currency for access to the museum.

For time that I had, I only managed to establish low-key car museum, but only using pictures of them rather 3D models. The result is more like a gallery than the real VR vintage car museum. However, it is also necessary to keep in mind that it is just a prototype, first step in the path. Secondly, for accessing it freely, the access is for now is free, until it has its own website.

In this article, I will explain the main reasoning behind the idea VR car museum and resources that I used to create it.

Why Virtual Museums are better than the physical ones?

First of all, environmental imprint of established museums will be significantly reduced with the wide usage of virtual museums, as they only require digital device and some investment for accessing. True, complete switch to virtual museums would hurt other businesses like tourism or even upset those who desire to experience in real life. Considering this, the idea would be suitable for the ones that have less reputation or need less artefacts.

Secondly, virtual museums will cost much less taking into account that building expense of such a platform is relatively cheaper with the usage of efficient resources. This will reduce ticket cost and will also eliminate the need to commute to the location of museum. As a result, increasing number of people with less financial income will also enjoy the museum experience and broaden their horizon.

Lastly, allowing the crypto currency for tickets is another history, it has many benefits: Creating a stage to foster the usage of cyrto currency in general or avoiding the central power in museum industry as well.

To create such a low-key museum, I used “artsteps” — website, allowing users to design their virtual environment for free. There are some previously made templates that cost some money for their usage too. Designing your own environment is much flexible, allowing you to bring your 3D objects and pictures. As for 3D objects ( plants, lights, human characters), I used sketchfab. Some of the objects are made by other individuals, which might be both free or paid for.

Finally, to access my museum, follow the link https://www.artsteps.com/view/65ab06468b943

You have to sign up for being able to see the exhibitions. Once you do that, on the right top corner, write down 12345678Ali on search exhibitions to see my exhibition. Enjoy it :)
