Tech in the Classroom
Digital literacy has become a prerequisite to the twenty-first-century global marketplace, and should, therefore, be implemented in the classroom to fit the changing needs of modern students.
This wasn’t always the case.
Education technology has seen many rises and falls in both popular culture and in the world of academia, in what can only be surmised as numerous false comings. There has, until recently, been little correlation between IT spending and school exam progress.
That seems to be changing in current years, however, as companies like FactSumo are finding innovative ways to reach students and teachers. We are taking an initiative to bring learning directly to student devices, so that education never stops when students leave the classroom. Not only does this encourage digital literacy and navigation, but it does so in a rewarding and active way. In all its forms, tech introduced early in a student’s education career can have lasting impacts on their ability to maneuver our increasingly digital world.
It can feel as though, with the latest iterations of technology developing more rapidly than the last, tech could surpass human input and innovation. But this isn’t to say that education technology is out to replace teachers. FactSumo, the first digital platform of its kind, is finding unique ways to supplement the traditional education experience. Paperless homework and quizzes, streamlined overview of classes, and custom exercises are just a few examples of how tech is helping to inform the face of education.
Our function hinges on the principles of efficiency and a user-friendly experience.
That is why FactSumo monitors class learning behaviors and quiz completion, as well as continuously tailors itself to a student’s particular learning pattern. It allows for students who excel in certain areas to progress more quickly through learning paths while aiding those who struggle by offering a unique set of questions that encourage improvement.
Today’s learners respond to a more active style of educational engagement; sometimes more archaic forms of teaching, such as worksheets and chalkboards, can feel slow-paced. And gaining the attention of students whose focus is already pulled in every direction due to technology can appear to be an impossible task. But FactSumo leverages this shift from smartboards to smartphones by filling in the gaps of information overload found outside the classroom.
The key is finding a balance between tradition and tech by facing head-on the needs of students who are becoming increasingly tech-savvy. Our focus brings students to the forefront and focuses on individualized learning where there was once only standardized group learning.
