It’s that time of the year again. The day we celebrate women for everything it took for us to be able to stand side by side with men and claim we’re equal. And, we’re super excited to announce that this year, we’ll be joining the celebration by starting the brand new edition of Learn IT, Girl! 🎉

Learn IT, Girl is an initiative started by a few software enthusiasts back in 2014, as an effort to realize Anita Borg’s vision of 50% women in computing by 2020. We’re already 2019 and we’re still far from the 50%, but you have to admit that female voice in tech is getting stronger. And we like to think we had our little contribution to it.

Creating opportunities for women worldwide to start a career in tech

Learn IT, Girl empowers women to start a career in technology by matching them with a mentor who can guide them through the process. All mentors are professionals in software engineering, enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and bridging the gap in technology.

We’re proud to say that this year, over 140 women will pave their path in engineering, guided by their mentors. Each mentee chooses the technology they want to learn themselves. And they’re creative. They’ll be learning trending technologies, web and mobile development practices, and even dig into data science.

Reflecting back on the success of the previous editions, the creativity of the participants, and the projects built as part of the program, we’re so thrilled for the start of this 4th edition. And, we’re really looking forward to seeing the impact that this year’s participants will create with their projects!

Do you want to make a difference?

We believe that even the smallest efforts count if we bring them together. So, we’d like to invite you to join us in our mission to bridge the gender gap in technology. You don’t need to have a lot of free time on your hands. Just motivation to contribute to a more inclusive workplace and some skills in organization, software development, or marketing.

Happy International Women’s Day! 🙆‍♀️🚀
