Thank you to the Space Needle for their permission to use the tower’s image in our activity.

Learn to Skate USA, powered by Toyota, is here for every step of your skating journey, on and off the ice. Weekly challenges are available every Friday on the blog for you to challenge yourself, stay active and remember the joy of skating!

Learn to Skate USA and U.S. Figure Skating are joining forces for this week’s challenge. Step it up and join us for a virtual journey to famous monuments across the United States! All you need is a flight of stairs. Make your way to the top of the Statue of Liberty, the Seattle Space Needle and St. Louis’ Gateway Arch with this activity.

In the activity below, each box represents 10 steps, or a standard flight of stairs. Track each as you ascend to the top of each monument, finishing at the top of the Gateway Arch: 1,076 steps high!

No stairs? No problem! Use a step stool, or if you have a short set of steps, use those. Get creative!

Download and play in one of three ways:

1. Via the Learn to Skate USA App. Download and learn more here.

2. As a printable PDF. Download here.

3. As an Instagram story-sized image to share with your friends. Download here.

Want to step it up even more? Here are three more ways to challenge yourself:

1. How many times can you climb to the top this week? Try climbing to the top of each monument multiple times!

2. Do it with a friend! Video chat your best skating friends and step it up together.

3. What other famous monuments do you want to climb up? Find another tall monument and virtually climb it. Share your journey online with #StepItUpSkating!
