Every parent wants the best for their child and for that they want their child to have the best knowledge and education in the world. But knowledge isn’t just limited to books, for the overall development a child needs to be exposed to different areas and fields that differ from their usual subjects. A child grows and learns from his/her environment and needs someone to hold their hand while they step up on the ladder of life. No matter their age, from kindergarten to high school the words of a parent always impact a child. Life has a plethora of activities to offer and things to see, and every child must have the opportunity to experience this life.

SPORTS

For most of the adults working out holds a meaning of being in the gym, running on a treadmill, or lifting weights. But for kids, working out means being exposed to different kind of sports. According to a survey by PARENTSTOGETHER FOUNDATION nearly half of respondents kids (48%) are currently spending more than six hours per day online (a nearly 500% increase from before the crisis) this leads to less physical activity on a daily basis. One of the best ways to get kids to be more active and productive in these times is to introduce them to different sports like indoor tennis, indoor volleyball,..etc. These sports will not only keep your child fit but will also help to inculcate qualities like fair play and leadership that will help him in his journey of life.

DANCE & MUSIC

In life, we all face a lot of problems and that’s why they say “Put music to your problems and dance them away”. This is one principle that we must inculcate in our children. Currently, most countries are on lockdown and people with their families, and being honest we all have a lot of negative energy surrounding us so turning the table around with some beats here and there and dancing freely with your little ones can spread a sense of positivity around the house and amongst your family. Most kids learn from what they see and the environment that they live in, so create a musical environment which encourages you and your family to sing, dance and play.

ART AND CRAFT

‘Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up’-Pablo Picasso. Art and craft has a different definition for everyone. It can be a way of crafting emotions for one or just a hobby for another. Art is what puts a smile on a child’s face, mixing colors and making a blank paper colorful, feels as if with so many problems going on in this world, there is still color and life. However it is equally important as a parent to understand that a child does not need to create a perfect abstract to have a meaningful artistic experience. Art is a process, not a product. So, encourage them to pick up their pencil and brushes and draw whatever they imagine. It can be a scenery or a bird or even a simple flower on canvas!

BE A HOMEMADE CHEF

Cooking involves putting a number of ingredients together and trying to make the best out of it but at the same times it requires a lot of patience and directions. Kids need to learn that pizza and pasta doesn’t always have to come from a restaurant, they can be made at home with their favorite toppings. So what’s the harm of teaching your kids these values in a delicious and creative way! While it may take patience at times, teaching kids how to cook has loads of benefits that will definitely help them in their lifetime. When you hear your child say I made it myself, I promise it will not only be a sense of accomplishment for them but will definitely make your day.

GARDENING

They say “A garden is a friend that you can visit anytime”. We all live in a world where tablets, iPhone, and Xbox have taken over our quality time that we used to spend under the pleasant shade of nature. According to an observation by CHILDRENANDNATURE.ORG gardening provides different forms of engagement for children, including designing, working cooperatively in groups; learning about science and nutrition; and creating art and stories inspired by gardens. So what all do you need for your kids to learn when they are still at the discovering age of their lives! Start with a small gardening space for your little ones where they can grow organic food and lead to a path of healthy food lifestyle(hopefully!). The best time to plant a tree was when your child was born and the second best time is when they know how to care for a tree.

There are many things to learn in life and life has its own way of teaching them but as parents it’s our duty that we in all forms, as a friend, a helping hand, or even the ones telling them the harsh reality be there for them and introduce them to all fields and arenas of life. Knowledge, schooling isn’t the only education a kid needs to have, there are many more things to know and live for.
