Feedback on Puzzle Prototype | 04.26.2018

This week we had the opportunity to test our story and our prototypes. We conducted the first round of testing with our classmates. Each group had the opportunity to have 3 to 4 people critique and experience our puzzle.

We received the following feedback from that session:

  • Think how the elements of your solution (comic book, puzzle box and website) work together and how the camper will experience them. Several members indicated that it was not clear what the camper needed to look first in order to solve the puzzles and learn more about the story
  • Clarify the role of the camper in the story and their goals. During the testing session our tester did not understand why they were playing the puzzles and how it connected to the story
  • Adapt the feedback to comic form. We originally had the feedback for each puzzle as text. Our testers recommended that we change it to comic format given that the text was too long. There could be an opportunity to add audio to the feedback to make it more interactive
  • Make the connection to citizen science stronger. Our tester did not understand the connection that our puzzle has with citizen science. Making the connection clear or introducing it earlier in our story could help strengthen this connection

We also received specific feedback on the puzzles. Our testers provided us with feedback around our instructions and what we wanted to accomplish.

On Thursday, we had the opportunity to further test our puzzles with an 11 year old. She provided us with useful feedback around the level of difficulty for each puzzle as well as her motivation level. Her feedback helped us refine the instructions of our puzzles.

As a next step, our team is continuing to refine our puzzles and strengthen the connections that we have in our story line.
