distillation is process where component separate from liquid using selective condensation and boiling.heat vaporize high volatile compound and leave high volatile compound as liquid.

In this feed introduce in column “batch-wise”.product of one batch is use as feed for next batch.
continuous column
in a continuous column process is continuous where No interruptions occur unless there is a problem with the column or surrounding process.
operation and terminology
feed is introduce usually near middle of column to the tray. after feed enters the column,it flow down the column and contact vapor stream. reboiler separates vapor stream and liquid stream where vapor stream return to the column and bottom liquid stream go for further process. vapor stream go upward through the trays, and contacts the down flowing liquid stream, allowing the separation to take place.after that it pass through condenser which separate reflux stream and distillate product.
The tray include opening and closing valve and cap where vapor and liquid stream contact for some time.cap are allow vapor stream pass through tinny opening and liquid.
temperature gradually decrease as you go upward in distillation column. different product distillate at different height of column as the heaviest at the bottom, the lightest at the top.
