Top 10 Best D&D Twitter Accounts to Follow
The Dungeons & Dragons community is strong, talkative, and very opinionated. When I first started playing I started looking for the best place to join in on the conversation. I found a lot of people talking about D&D in many different places, but none were as strong as Twitter. The #dnd community on Twitter is full of awesome homebrews, hilarious gifs/memes, players asking great questions, and DMs (of various backgrounds and experiences) providing great answers. Which leaves us with the question: what D&D Twitter account should you actually pay attention to?
There’s so many people joining the conversation on Twitter that it can be hard to figure out who to list to or who provides the best content. I’ve put together a list of my top 10 D&D Twitter accounts, links to their Twitter and website, and why I think you should follow them.

10. Wizards of the Coast

Wizards of the Coast (owned by Hasbro) are the publishers of Dungeons & Dragons. They have been creating and publishing new D&D editions since 3rd edition and all of the “official” campaign books for D&D. They are working with Curse on developing and launching a digital application for D&D called D&D Beyond and they publish a digital magazine called Dragon+ each month. There are three staff members of Wizards of the Coast in this list.
9. Mike Mearls

Mike Mearls is a game designer on the Wizards of the Coast D&D team. He helped write 4th edition D&D when he joined the WoTC team. He also wrote the official adventure Keep on the Shadowfell. His tweets tend to be mostly personal, but there are some great D&D responses to questions that I wouldn’t want to miss out on; including what it’s like to work for WoTC.
8. Tribality

Tribality is a multi-authored blog that writes damn useful articles for various RPG systems. The authors of this website are made up of various RPG players and GMs. They write mostly from the GM point-of-view around homebrew, system modifications and tricks, and RPG news.
7. DM David

DM David started his blog around the “D&D Next” prior to 5th edition. His blog and content is great “deep-thinking” concepts around D&D. He picks a single topic and dives in completely. You can learn a lot from his articles and they really make you think about the concepts and functions behind the system of D&D.
6. The Angry GM

The Angry GM is a blog that you should treasure and read with a full expectation of learning something from your own ignorance. Angry is a man named Scott Rehm and he’s had 27 years of experience in the tabletop RPG world. He writes amazing articles about RPG systems, how they work and why, whether he agrees, and what he would change. He does all of this with attitude; you’ll see. He calls himself “angry” for a reason.
5. Matt Colville

Matt Colville is the lead writer at Turtle Rock Studios, creators of Left 4 Dead and Evolve. Matt has a powerful YouTube channel where he gives advice to dungeon masters on running their games and recaps his own games. Matt, being a novelist of hardboiled fantasy, is a master at narrative. He’s helped me shape my games and stories from his fantastic advice and energy.
4. Sly Flourish

Sly Flourish is one of the best D&D blogs out there and it’s ran by a man named Mike Shea. He’s written his own books (adventures and DM’s guides), puts together in-depth guides to official campaign books, and writes great “deep-thinking” articles about 5th edition D&D. Mike’s tweets are filled with great content and advice for DMs.
3. Jeremy Crawford

Jeremy Crawford is the Lead Designer and Managing Editor for 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons at Wizards of the Coast. He joined in 2007 after co-designing and editing the Blue Rose role-playing game. He also writes the “Sage Advice” newsletter each month. Jeremy’s tweets are powerful and he answers questions all of the time. Tweet your answer to him and you’ll probably get an answer from the Lead Designer of the game.
2. Matthew Mercer

Matthew Mercer is a voice-actor (you might know him for McCree in Overwatch) and the dungeon master of the internet phenomenon, Critical Role. Matt and his voice-actor friends put on one of the most entertaining D&D games you’ll see on the internet. Matt is a fantastic DM, offers great advice to other DMs on the Geek & Sundry YouTube channel, and can he heard in many of your favorite video games.
1. Christopher Perkins

Chris Perkins is legendary in the D&D world. Chris has a rich history in RPGs and with WoTC, but here is the hot and short: Chris got his start in 1988 after writing his own adventure, Wards of Witching Ways, and it was published in Dragon Magazine. He joined the Wizards team as an editor and ended up as a Lead Game Designer for 5th edition D&D. Chris is an admirable dungeon master and a true mentor to DMs in the D&D community. He regularly DMs games for Acquisitions Incorporated (at PAX each year) and the WoTC Twitch series Lights, Camera, Dice! Chris tweets about WoTC and D&D updates. Like Jeremy Crawford, Chris takes plenty of time to respond to the community with answers to their questions; D&D related or not.
