Medium is changing the way we write online. I get immense value from almost every article i read. But recently, i’ve started to notice this trend where almost all otherwise brilliantly written, thought provoking articles end with a “Click on recommend/Follow me on Twitter/or something to similar effect”. As you’re scrolling down, suddenly it feels like you fell off Medium into a teenager’s MySpace or something.

If you’re writing good content, if the reader is finding value in spending a couple of minutes reading your content, they are likely to be inclined to recommend anyway. So, please stop doing this, it’s really annoying.
